Via Ain't Too
Proud, whom I found among Zarqa's friends: 80's
Toys Are On Their Way Back.Time for some nostalgia. :-)
I tickled that actually still HAVE my Merlin and my Rubix
cube. My best friend used to collect Breyer Horse Models and even
subscribed to a horse model magazine that showed how to detail and alter
the horses. (Scale modeling that appealed mostly to girls, unlike the
tanks, planes and cars scale models.) She still has most of those as well.
I always wanted a Connect Four and a Lite Brite, but never did get one.
Same thing with Spirograph, which I thought was WAY cool. "Weebles wobble,
but they don't fall down!" Never had one, but they made me laugh.
Speaking of dolls, I wasn't much into all the dolls that were popular in
the 80's, though I did have a couple of Barbies, a Skipper and a Gumby and
a Pokey doll. I wasn't a Strawberry Shortcake fan, but I loved
Holly Hobby. I'd love to get some Holly Hobby stuff to decorate my sewing
room with. I was actually quite fond of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
even though they came about when I was older. I remember the Smurf craze
and things like Sit 'n Spin. I had a Skip-It for the longest time.
Remember Teddy Ruxpin? I have this great "Mother Goose and Grimm" cartoon
of Grimmy putting a Metallica tape into the Teddy Ruxpin. :-)
I never thought of Legos as an 80's toy, but I had a TON of those. I loved
Critter Sitters, Scratch n' Sniff, Trapper Keepers and funky pens and
pencils and had a ton of those as well. I still have four Scratch n' Sniff
Critter Sitter spiral notebooks and yes, the Scratch n' Sniff patches
still have scent to them!
