Friday Five
2 August 2003, 8:47 AM
Okay, so I'm a day late on the Friday
Five. It's been a weird week for me. I'm not even going to bother to
back-date this.
- What time do you wake up on weekday mornings?
It varies. When I had to drive an hour-and-a-half just to get to
work, I used to get up at 6am. These days I get up 9am. I'm trying to
push that back to 7am so that I can exercise in the mornings
before I go to work, but that means I've got to get to bed before 1 or
2am. I am SO a night owl. I kinda wish I was a morning person because it'd be nice to DO things
at a leisurely pace before I have to head off to work. Early morning light
is so lovely and gentle and everything has a look of newness to it. I'd
love to sit just by my herb garden and drink a cup of tea slowly, savoring
it all.
- Do you sleep in on the weekends? How late?
Oh yeah. You betcha. I used to sleep until 2 or 3 in the afternoon. These
day I spring out of bed a 10am or 11am whether I want to or not. - Aside from waking up, what is the first thing you do in the morning?
Put on my glasses. Being sleepy AND blind-as-a-bat do not go well
together. - How long does it take to get ready for your day?
About 15 minutes. Seriously. I'm usually half-way out the door 15 to 20
minutes after waking. - When possible, what is your favorite place to go for breakfast?
I don't really have one. When Jeff and I visited Victoria, Canada we
stayed at a hotel right across from a restaurant called "Rosie's". Because
of the two hour time difference we were suddenly early birds every
morning, and Rosie happened to have an "early bird" breakfast special or
eggs, bacon, toast and juice. For some reason it was the neatest breakfast
we'd had in a long time. Around here we sometimes stop for kolaches and donuts in the morning, or
breakfast tacos at a new spot close to campus. The breakfast taco place
has the potential to become a favorite if we can get up early enough to
take advantage of it.
