Al Fraken is Free to be Fair and Balanced
27 August 2003, 3:29 PM

Fox drops suit against Al Franken that spurred the "Fair and Balanced" blog ... thing. :-)

"It is ironic," Chin said of the Fox suit, "that a media company that should be seeking to protect the First Amendment is seeking to undermine it by claiming a monopoly on the phrase 'fair and balanced.' "

It's not ironic. It's *Fox*! You know - of reality television and Let's-Cancel-All-The-Good-Shows fame. Of course they'd be this stupid.

How-To-Bow

Well, this was both entertaining and informative. It's a site that explains how to bow in business and personal situations in Japan. Found via Ethnolog.

The Gerber Baby
27 August 2003, 8:13 AM

This is nifty. I just read about the woman who is the baby in the Gerber baby food trademark, Ann Turner Cook. Apparently a friend of her family had made a simple charcoal sketch of the infant Cook and submitted it in a contest to Gerber back in 1928. They liked it so much that it became the Gerber trademark as it was submitted, with no changes.

It was neat to see a picture of the 70-something Cook.
