Friday Five
10 October 2003, 3:24 PM

I've been kinda lax about doing these for the past month or so: The Friday Five

1. Do you watch sports? If so, which ones?
Yeah, sometimes. Mostly tennis and the winter Olympic sports every time those are around. I'd watch soccer and hockey more often if they were shown on the channels I get.

2. What/who are your favorite sports teams and/or favorite athletes?
I don't have any favorite athletes or teams really, though I do have a fondness for the U.S. women's soccer team, and The Comets (Houston's WNBA team). I used to be a big fan of the Rockets too. (Houston's NBA team.) Other than that? Oh, Martina Navratilova. Ivan Lendell. Scott Hamilton.

3. Are there any sports you hate?
Hate? Not really. Though I *resent* the hold football has on our colleges and universities and so never really got into it. I also find baseball a bit boring, unless I'm actually at the field watching it. (Definitely won't catch it on TV.)

4. Have you ever been to a sports event?
Yeah. One baseball game, a high school football game, lots of tennis tournaments, and several rodeos. Looking forward to going to a hockey game.

5. Do/did you play any sports (in school or other)? How long did you play?
Yup. Tennis. I first picked up a racket when I was about 6 years old. I began really playing tennis when I was about 11 or 12 and I was on my high school tennis team. Until my second year of college I played several UTSA tennis tournaments.
