*moan* *grumble* *complain*It really sucks to have to work during the nicest part of the year.
*sigh*
It's "fall" down here in Texas, which means that the temperatures drop to
what most of the rest of the nation knows as "summer" (and in some places
our winter is their "spring", the days go from rainy to beautiful blue
skies and sunshine and everything starts growing and blooming again.
Those of us who work for the education system are all stuck inside,
working, which doesn't make any sense to me. Summertime in Texas
is when you want to be inside, away from the blistery heat. I don't mind
working then, since I'd get nothing else done. It's too hot to garden
(everything would die anyway), too hot to even go out to the garage and
unpack moving boxes (it's like stepping into a pre-heated oven) and
getting errands done is an energy-sapping herculean effort. I don't want
to go on vacation then, because I don't really like going anywhere during
the summer, unless its *out* of the state, preferably a few thousand miles
away in cooler climates. But that gets expensive.
*sigh2* It's summertime when we're expected to be off from school,
vacationing and and having fun. And I don't wanna.
Then fall comes and everything looks so lovely. We can open the windows
and enjoy breezes, and run around in the cool air and get a million things
done without being drenched in sweat. Beautiful days make you want to just
sit out on the porch, go kayaking or hiking and lovely storms beckon to
curling up with a good book. I want to go shopping and touring little
towns and gift shops. I want to go walking by the river and eat out at a
cafe. I want to go hiking and camping and fishing or just doze on the back
porch. But it's this time of year that school begins, campaigns get
underway, businesses start new projects. Aigh. I want to go outside and
play!
Then it gets cold again and we have vacation time. Whoopee. The plants are
all dead again, it's too cold to go from building to building without
warm stuff and as soon as you're inside it's too warm. By the time it's
lovely gardening and outdoorsy weather again in March we're all back in
side at work again. Dangit! It's not fair.
