I'm recovering from a fantastic adventure this past Saturday. My back and
thighs are still sore, and I'm still tired, but it was well worth it.Jeff and I joined my fellow anthropology students
and several professors from the Anthropology department for a day
trip down to Seminole
Canyon State Park to see the 4,000 year old rock art painting there.
It was rough - getting up at 5:30 a.m. on a Saturday morning, especially
after this particular week of exams and presentations, papers and
projects, was brutal and I was trying to convince myself I still wanted to
go. There was a large group of students assembled outside the university
in the cold and early morning, ready to brave the trip. We piled aboard
four vans and settled in for the four hour drive down to Seminole Canyon.
Jeff and I nodded off several times along the trip and hoped it would be
worth it, since it was likely we wouldn't be home until near midnight.
It was. Worth it, that is. Absolutely incredible. Though we did indeed
just crawl back into bed as soon as we got home (near midnight, and after
a couple of ibuprofens for me) it was so worth it.
I'll finish this in a couple more posts today...
